Kid Kash vs Jesse Sorensen
It was a great opening match and while these two aren't the reasons you watch TNA right now, they have had a fun back-and-forth program in recent weeks. The fans react to Sorensen, so that's a definite positive, but I'm not a huge fan of the football player gimmick. It's a little cheesy for me. Kid Kash is simply good. He's smart, experienced and explosive. The two of these guys have good chemistry and I've enjoyed their recent work together. Their match last night was a good way to kick off the show.
Mickie James vs Winter
I'm a big fan of Winter and haven't ever had a problem with Mickie James either. I don't think their match last night at No Surrender was the best we've seen from them in recent weeks, but it was still an okay match. The finish was typical with the Love involvement and again, Winter spraying the blood into the eyes of Mickie James wouldn't have been so bad on any other show. As much as I enjoy Winter as Champion, I'm surprised she won this. Why did they even put the strap on Mickie at all? The Knockout's Championship definitely didn't gain any credibility as a result of this match, but if they leave the belt on Winter for an extended period of time, I'll be fine with the decision.
Mexican America vs Devon & Pope Dinero
I give each of the four men credit for working hard, but all the craziness made it hard to enjoy this match. The interferences, the spankings…they were a bit much for me. I understand that it's the style of Mexican America to have the women get involved, but pay per views shouldn't be the place for that. Who would it really hurt to let them go over clean? The makeshift team of Pope and Devon? Then again, they're over more than the Champions and I'm afraid that's not going to change regardless how many clean or unclean victories they get. The racial line has been walked in professional wrestling time and time again. It's rarely done any different than normal and I'm just not sure it works anymore. I have always liked Hernandez and really feel he's improved over the years, but I don't know if they will ever be taken serious as Tag Team Champions.
Austin Aries vs Brian Kendrick
The match of the night for me and while I am probably one of the few fans who enjoys Brian Kendrick and the character he portrays, I understand that the majority probably doesn't "get it". It doesn't translate very well with most and it's unfortunate because he is super talented. Austin Aries, on the other hand, is near perfection in my eyes. He reminds me of a smaller version of CM Punk in demeanor. He's one of the more entertaining elements to watch in just about every TNA program. I think the title change was the right move at this point and as far as the match goes, it was great.
