Off The Air: Muppet Achievement, Submit Your Slammy Ideas

Last Monday we were treated to a three hour presentation of Monday Night Raw, where the theme was the Slammy Awards. Guest appearances by Lita and the Road Dogg were nice, nostalgic moments. CM Punk bringing out the Dynamic Dudes t-shirt and the John Laurinaitis music video were hilarious and very well received by the public. Other highlights of the event were Kane's return and the WWE logo at the end of the show, signifying it was, in fact, the end of the show and… that was it. When the WWE does something right, they really do it right. But, when they do something wrong, it turns out like the live, special edition of SmackDown or like the 2011 Slammy's.

Apparently, an additional 10 awards were announced online after RAW was over. These awards included Sheamus winning OUTSTANDING ACHIEVEMENT IN MUPPET RESEMBLANCE.

Outstanding Achievement in Muppet Resemblance? At first I thought that was the most ridiculous idea for an award ever created. I mean, yes it's the WWE. It's their awards show, they can do whatever they want. The counter-point to that argument is that they are making the viewers sit through "rap battles" between Jim Ross and Michael Cole in an awards show they dress up as a major event, but really is just a night to clown around. Instead of getting upset about it though, I laughed as I envisioned what WrestleZone.com and Off The Air readers would come up with with awards if they were given a forum to do so.

Well, here's your chance. We oftentimes, as viewers of WWE and Impact feel that we can come up with something better than what they are offering us.  Let's do it. The first ever "Off The Air Awards" will be presented next week, as randomly selected awards will be featured in the column. For example, "Worst WrestleZone Columnist: Aaron Maguire." Nothing is off limits, as long as it is professional wrestling-related. To submit your ideas, please tweet them to @FairToAar on twitter or email them to FairToAar@gmail.com. This isn't meant to be taken too seriously, so have fun with it.

Aaron Maguire will be making the following appearances this week:

*Dec. 20 – Grafton, Ohio at the Lorain County Correctional Institute for a prison-exclusive pro wrestling event

*Dec. 23 – Cleveland, Ohio at the "Intense Arena" for Absolute Intense Wrestling's "Nightmare Before X-Mas 5"
