Isenberg Reacts: Impact Wrestling “The Beginning…Again”

The Miracle Debuts In TNA

impact wrestlingMaria and her man, Mike Bennett, make their debut in TNA. He talks about how wrestling sucks and basically puts himself over while trashing everyone else. Bennett, coming out in a hat and suit, had very small reminders of a Chris Jericho return. (Yes, Mark Madden and I agree) The posing, the standstill and the slight visual effects for him made it seem they were trying to do something similar.

I am not against Bennett in TNA, but they need to make sure they push him when necessary. Is Bennett going to be a top guy in the main event right away? No. I also did not get the suit and hat game. He looked like Armando Estrada in the 1920’s of Boardwalk Empire. I would have taken the ridiculous hat off of him and shown his face. He is not a guy that EVERYONE knows, so why hide his facial features. It was interesting, but it could have been bigger. I do think he can succeed, just not pushing him to the top so quickly. You already have EC3 there and do not want his star to lose any luster.

As for Maria, she looks better than ever and is excellent at what she does. She was horrible in WWE, but worked hard to dedicate time into making her character work. Say what you want, but Maria did more for Bennett than anyone could.

Kurt Angle Farewell Tour

Kurt Angle comes out and talks about wrapping things up in TNA, which means he is never coming back. Hell, maybe he will. Either way, Kurt Angle is a stellar performer and gives credit to whoever fights him. Jesse Godderz and Eli Drake get a big rub from Angle on the debut of Impact Wrestling on PopTV.

Truth: Kurt lives in Pittsburgh and attends the gym that I go to everyday. I saw Kurt three consecutive days in a row last week and I am not sure how much longer his body can go. He is in better shape than me, but he just looks defeated at times. I want the best for him and am not sure this is best for him. He needs a solid year away from the ring to heal some wounds, get in a little better cardio shape and come back to WWE. What will this farewell tour do? Maybe, just maybe, it will help Drew Galloway next week when they face off. I have always appreciated his work and think he has the makings of a world champion down the road. Here is to hoping for a few more great bouts from one of the best ever…
