Sami Zayn Wins Black Friday Battle Royal, Earns Shot At WWE Universal Title

Sami Zayn just scored what could be considered the biggest victory of his career in recent months.

On a special Black Friday edition of WWE SmackDown, several Superstars competed for the right to challenge Roman Reigns for his WWE Universal Championship.

Drew McIntyre was surprisingly left out of the match, and names like Shanky, Madcap Moss, and Rick Boogs were included. Right before the match began, McIntyre charged the ring and nearly sliced some competitors with his sword, clearly frustrated that he didn’t have a spot in the battle royal. But not even his sword-based threats could change his fate, as he eventually walked to the back.

The match seemingly came down to Ricochet, Sheamus, Happy Corbin, and Jeff Hardy. “The Charismatic Enigma”, fueled by the North Carolina crowd, last eliminated Corbin of this trio, but Sami Zayn, who had exited the ring between the ropes, snuck back in and eliminated Hardy to win the bout and the title shot.

The order of eliminations is as follows:

  • Jinder Mahal (off-camera)
  • Drew Gulak (Sami Zayn)
  • Mansoor (Ridge Holland and Sheamus)
  • Mace (Madcap Moss)
  • Shanky (Madcap Moss)
  • Ridge Holland (Cesaro)
  • Cesaro (Madcap Moss)
  • Madcap Moss (Happy Corbin)
  • Rick Boogs (Angel)
  • Angel (Erik)
  • Humberto (Viking Raiders)
  • Erik (Sheamus)
  • Ivar (Sheamus)
  • Ricochet (Sheamus)
  • Sheamus (Happy Corbin)
  • Happy Corbin (Jeff Hardy)
  • Jeff Hardy (Sami Zayn)
