Exclusive interview: TNA’s Dixie Carter

The head of Total Nonstop Action on the future of TNA.

This Dixie Carter is no designing woman. I can make that stupid joke because when I first saw her name, I thought it was the actress making a drastic career change. No, this Dixie Carter has been the most legitimate threat to Vince McMahon’s WWE empire. Even WCW couldn’t stand up to him, but Carter’s Total Nonstop Action is going strong. We got some personal time with Carter when she prepared to introduce the arrival of Hulk Hogan to her team.

Crave Online:
How big a coup was it to get Hulk Hogan?

Dixie Carter: It’s huge. I mean, he is one of the most recognizable people in this world. To have him and his brand and his passion and his knowledge working for you, it doesn’t get any bigger than that for us.

Crave Online: How do you think he would do in a hexagon?

Dixie Carter: You know, we’ve got some plans about that ring. We’re really trying to get back to basics, get back to more traditional what wrestling’s all about. I don’t know how long he might be in that hexagon. You’ll have to stay tuned.

Crave Online: Can his storylines build on what’s already come before or do you have to start from scratch?

Dixie Carter: No, I think the beauty with him is automatically with one show, he already jumped into so many storylines, but because he has real life history with so many people that work with us, there are storylines that really played out in courts and in lawsuits and backstage antics, the whole thing, from 10 years ago. Very rarely in wrestling do you have an opportunity to play out real life angles that were so big to our industry. So it’ll be really interesting to see what happens.
