Best TNA Wrestling PPV Matches Of 2013

TNA Wrestling presented 16 PPVs and specials in 2013. The promotion kicked off its PPV action with Genesis on January 13. Lockdown arrived in March, followed by Slammiversary in June.

The promotion held several One Night Only special events between Lockdown and Slammiversary. The special events capped off with Final Resolution on December 19. Many of these events featured great action and solid storytelling.

Let’s take a look at some of the best TNA Wrestling PPV matches of 2013:

TNA World Tag Team Title Three-Way Match (Lockdown)

Austin Aries and Bobby Roode put their tag team titles on the line in a three-way match. The pair squared off against two of the best teams on the IMPACT Zone at that time. This match had a fine blend of wrestling and humor.

Chavo and Hernandez did a good job. Christopher Daniels and Kazarian looked effortless inside the squared circle. The victory, however, belonged to the champions Roode and Aries.

AJ Styles vs. Kurt Angle (Slammiversary)

Two clash of styles between two formidable opponents! Styles worked a different style in this match because of his Lone Wolf character. Kurt Angle showed he was still one of the best in the business on this night.

Styles targeted Angle’s injured knee for advantage. The Olympic Gold Medalist still managed to pull off a suplex from the top rope. The controversial ending helped both men protect themselves from a clean loss.

Austin Aries vs. Bobby Roode vs. Jeff Hardy (Genesis)

Jeff Hardy entered Genesis 2013 as the reigning and defending world champion. The Daredevil found the odds stacked against him. Both Roode and Aries teamed up in the first half to dismantle the champion.

The alliance fizzled out in the second half and Hardy found some opening for a comeback. All three men wrestled at a great pace to keep the crowd entertained from bell to bell. Hardy retained his title following a Swanton Bomb on Aries.

AJ Styles vs. Bully Ray (Bound for Glory)

This match pitted TNA Wrestling’s biggest homegrown star against its biggest villain. AJ Styles had returned to the IMPACT Zone under the Lone Wolf gimmick. Bully Ray, on the other hand, was making strides as part of Aces & Eights.

Both men met in the main event of Bound for Glory under No DQ rules. Styles took some crazy bumps for Bully in this match. The exposed ring spot was brutal as well. The Phenomenal One put away his rival with a spiral sault for the win as Dixie Carter yelled on in disbelief. Styles would go on to defend the title again a few days later in a match nearly as good as at BFG.

Taryn Terrell vs. Gail Kim (Slammiversary)

Slammiversary XI had a solid card with plenty of great action. The match that arguably stole the show came courtesy of Gail Kim and Taryn Terrell. These two had been the highlights of the Knockouts Division in the lead-up to Slammiversary 2013.

Both women knocked it out of the park with their in-ring storytelling. They brought out the best in each other with some well-paced sequences and nasty bumps. Terrell put away Kim with a cutter from the top of the ramp to the mat for the ten count.
