According to F4WOnline.com, despite both CM Punk and WWE publicly remaining mostly quiet since Punk’s official departure from the company, it’s being said WWE officials are very upset with how the entire departure went down, and there are serious issues between the two sides right now.
While it appears on the outside that Punk’s contract expiration and subsequent removal from the main WWE roster went “smoothly,” officials don’t see it that way, and are not happy. In fact, there is a belief by some backstage that something might end up happening on WWE’s part, which could include the company taking some kind of action against Punk for the way he handled his WWE departure.
Paglino: From a legal standpoint I’m not sure what WWE can do to Punk given his contract has expired. From a public standpoint they could always take shots at him via TV and other venues, but I sure hope they don’t, as it benefits no one in the long run.
As for Punk, I am reminded of what Kurt Angle said recently, which is that Punk shouldn’t burn the bridge with WWE as he could be a future Brock Lesnar type performer, who can make big money doing one-off WWE appearances. I think that’s sound advice.
