We previously reported that longtime TNA star Samoa Joe has decided to depart the company after a nearly ten year run.
PWInsider.com is reporting that Samoa Joe leaving TNA was fairly similar to AJ Styles’ departure in the fact that TNA wouldn’t be able to match the money had been earning, and Joe decided to leave.
TNA and Joe did make an attempt to agree on a new deal up until his departure, but neither side could find terms that they both agreed to. TNA made a final offer to Joe and left it up to him to decide, and when he declined it, there was said to be no heat or bad feelings.
Going forward, a smaller reason TNA decided they couldn’t offer Joe more was the fact that they are looking to invest in new talent. It was reported that the door was left open for Joe to return in the future if he chose to, and it might help Joe’s character if he were to ever return with a “fresh” start. Much has been made about the poor handling of Joe’s character over the years, and they even tried to bring him back to strength during the current company reboot, but it was deemed unsuccessful.
The belief is Joe may work a schedule like Styles when he left TNA two years ago, and could head somewhere like Ring of Honor or somewhere else with some independent appearances.
