WWE returned to Downtown Salt Lake City for the first time in almost 20 years Saturday night for a house show. Since 1997 most all of the shows have been in the smaller Maverik Center in the SLC suburbs. Attendance appeared to be between 5-6,000, which in a 19,000 seat building didn’t look too good to be honest.
Match 1: Neville beat Heath Slater with a schoolboy. There were a lot of NXT chants, Slater worked the mic during different parts of the match asking how we feel about NXT after beating him down before the roll up. Post match Slater attacks again, Neville hits a reversal kick and the Red Arrow.
Match 2: R-Truth beat Stardust. Dust had a box of shirts and asked who wants free stuff since the Network is free this month. He decided not to give us anything, we were a hive of scum and villainy. Truth rapped his way out, said Dust sucks, and when he called him Cody the match jump started. Toward the end, Dust took his gloves off to whip Truth, Truth got the gloves and whipped Dust, threw the gloves in the air, and when Dust reached for them he got hit with the Lie Detector.
Match 3: This was the Twitter poll match between the Lucha Dragons, Los Matadores, and Luke Harper & Erick Rowan. The choices were a one fall match or an elimination match. Elimination match wins in a landslide, 90%. Harper & Rowan beat the Matadores in the first fall after a Rowan blind tag of Sin Cara, Harper immediately tagged Rowan, and they hit a Matador with 3D. The Dragons won the second fall after Kalisto reversed a Harper power bomb into the Salina Del Sol followed by a Sin Cara swanton.
The showed the Warrior Award/Connor The Crusher Hall Of Fame video. It’s still a great tribute to a child that was taken far too soon.
Nick was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan, and lived there until the age of 18, when he decided to pack his flack jacket and move to New York City.
