We can confirm that the developing controversy surrounding WWE Hall of Famer Hulk Hogan has affected at least one current WWE Superstar in a major way.
Curtis Axel has been forced to drop the “Axelmania” gimmick that he has been using since early 2015, an homage to the Hulkster. His official profile on WWE.com has been reverted to simply “Curtis Axel”, and while his Twitter account still features photos and tweets of him using the gimmick, we expect that to be updated shortly.
As of right now, Damien Sandow is still listed as using the “Macho Mandow” gimmick. That being said, this Hulk Hogan story is still very much developing, and there hasn’t been time for the creative team and those in charge to decide what they’ll do with either character moving forward.
Update: WWE has released an official statement on their relationship with Hulk Hogan moving forward.
