PWG has announced several more names for their upcoming Battle of Los Angeles tournament, which now includes several top names from Ring of Honor, Lucha Underground and New Japan, including Adam Cole, Johnny Mundo, Ricochet (Prince Puma), Matt Sydal and more.

We are expected four more names to be announced, as the past two years the tournament has been expanded to 24 wrestles in total, with three brackets of eight, resulting in an elimination style triple threat match for the finals. As for who those eight names are, you can cross off any of the 20 names competing in this year’s G1 Climax, as the dates conflict (which is likely why Adam Cole isn’t in the G1).

For those new to BOLA, the event has become something of a precursor to greatness for independent wrestling talents over the past decade. Davey Richards won the tournament in 2006 before becoming a major name in ROH and eventually ending up in TNA, Kenny Omega won in 2009 and is now a top name in New Japan, Joey Ryan has had runs in TNA and is now in Lucha Underground, and El Generico had a great career in ROH and all around the world before retiring to run an orphanage in Mexico. Adam Cole became the top star in ROH, Kyle O’Reilly has won numerous titles in ROH and New Japan, Ricochet was slated to became the face of the juniors in Japan before being signed as a top star in Lucha Underground, and last year’s winner Zack Sabre Jr. is now competing in the WWE Cruiserweight Classic and is expected to be a stand-out in the tournament.
