WWE Stars Vent Brand Split Frustration, Was Cesaro Punished in The WWE Draft?, What He Said That Could Have Affected His Position

In this episode of the WrestleTalk News, was Cesaro punished in the WWE Draft for making anti-Rawcomments before Smackdown Live? And at least one fellow superstar shares Cesaro’s anger over which brand they’ve ended up on – along with two real-life couples that have been drafted to opposite shows!

Cesaro Punished In Draft?

Our top story today is the growing backstage anger towards the WWE draft amongst the new Rawand Smackdown rosters, but first – an update on yesterday’s lead story: Cesaro’s shoot promo after the debut episode of Smackdown Live. You have to say the live part now.

I’d prefer: Smackdown LIVES!

After Cesaro was drafted as the 17th pick in the 6th round to Raw, the Swiss Superman cut a scathing promo backstage about how he wanted to be on the ‘wrestling’ show Smackdown, not Raw, where the focus is more on authority figures instead of the wrestlers.

The promo could have been a work, because, you know – wrestling – and because WWE have kept the video on their YouTube channel, but Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer has tweeted that it was indeed a shoot; meaning that Cesaro’s comments were for real.

Until his name was read out as a Raw draft pick, it seemed as though Cesaro assumed he was going to Smackdown. House show advertisements last week mostly promoted Cesaro for the blue brand, but something must have changed in the days leading up to the draft.

And that something could be an interview he gave on the day of Smackdown Live.

In the interview, he said he wanted to go to the Daniel Bryan-led brand and that Raw was the “bad guy show”. Later that day, Cesaro was booked to lose clean to Chris Jericho on Smackdown Live, and he was left until the final round of televised draft picks – a whole two rounds behind Baron Corbin – and he was sent to the show he didn’t want to go to. Was Cesaro being punished for insulting Raw?
