Report: Netflix Planning Two ‘Red Notice’ Sequels, The Rock Expected To Return

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson continues to shine in Hollywood. One of his recent hits, “Red Notice” was a smashing success, and Netflix reportedly wants to capitalize.

According to Mike Fleming Jr. of Deadline, the streaming platform is “in the early stages” planning on making two sequels to the film, with the tentative plan for production to kick off in early 2023. Fleming Jr. notes that the aim is to shoot the films back-to-back. Likewise, Netflix intends to bring back stars Johnson, Ryan Reynolds and Gal Gadot, and Flynn Picture Company and Johnson’s company, Seven Bucks Productions will return as producers for the project.

Reportedly, the first “Red Notice” film had a $200 million dollar budget, and it quickly broke records; it made history as the platform’s most-watched movie in its premiere weekend, and it later became the most-watched film within 28 days of its initial release on Netflix.

“Red Notice” crossed over into the WWE Universe when it was a sponsor for the event and Vince McMahon flaunted a Cleopatra egg on the program. Austin Theory famously stole the egg to kick off his storyline with McMahon, which remains a prominent part of WWE RAW.
