Saraya Comments On Her AEW Debut At Grand Slam

Saraya reacts to her All Elite Wrestling arrival.

Wednesday night on AEW Dynamite: Grand Slam, Saraya shocked audiences by making her AEW debut. Following the AEW Interim Women’s World Championship bout, Britt Baker, Serena Deeb, and Jamie Hayter laid out champion Toni Storm and Athena. As Baker smeared blood across her face, a familiar face emerged. The former WWE Divas Champion forced the trio to retreat, as she soaked in the road of the New York crowd.

Now, Saraya has officially commented on her arrival to AEW, citing she was “absolutely blown away by the pop”.

“Fucking WOW! Absolutely blown away by the pop in the stadium and the reception outside of it,” Saraya wrote. “Been a long journey. Couldn’t be happier to be in @AEW thank you to everyone! and thank you to my babe @RonnieRadke for letting me use his song Zombified! LFG!!”

In a recent appearance on Busted Open Radio, AEW President Tony Khan claimed to “have a trick up his sleeve” for the AEW Grand Slam show, with noteworthy surprises in store. To conceal one of those surprises, Saraya assembled a disguise to ensure an authentic debut.

The self-described “Glampire” departed from WWE earlier this summer, but now she is All Elite. It should be noted that Saraya has not competed in the ring since December of 2017, following an aggravated neck injury. She would then formally retire from in-ring competition a few months later.

During an appearance on The Sessions with Renee Paquette earlier this year, Saraya spoke about her current health as well as the fact that she sometimes teases making an in-ring return.

“I feel fantastic, I really do feel fantastic. I still have that mental block of like, ‘Oh my God, if I was to get in the ring, what if?’ If I was to have to be in the ring, it would be for a really big moment, to wrestle. Like I’ll do promos here and there, for big companies, but to actually wrestle, it would have to be a really big moment. I would love to face Sasha [Banks] again, for real. Because, like, it ended the way it did.”
