The Great Khali Shares His Thoughts On John Cena’s Heel Turn

The Great Khali thinks WWE made the right decision in turning John Cena heel for the first time in years.

The 16-time world champion sold his soul to The Rock at Elimination Chamber. He joined up with the Final Boss, kicking Cody Rhodes in the nuts and turning his back on the WWE Universe.

This is something that impressed his long-time rival, The Great Khali. The pair battled in some great matches back in 2007, ending in John Cena throwing the Indian giant off a crane to retain his WWE Championship.

Speaking with Rewind Recap Relive, The Great Khali reacted to John Cena’s heel turn. He called it “awesome” and said the whole angle was “really great”. He went on to explain how his bump from a crane in his final match with Cena hurt his back but gave him many great memories.

“Oh yeah, man, that’s awesome!” The Great Khali said. “He turned heel—I think it was the first time he turned heel? That was really great. I think this works, man; this works. John Cena is really good, and I’ve had so many matches with him. One time, he just gave me his finisher, the FU, and threw me off a crane. I think it was really, really great—so many memories there! That hurt my back!”

The Great Khali Comments On Potentially Returning To WWE

The Great Khali shares his thoughts on potentially returning to WWE.

He had a memorable run in WWE. Khali debuted in 2006 and went on to feud with The Undertaker and John Cena, among other stars. He had a reign as the World Heavyweight Champion as well. Khali wrestled at WrestleMania 30, and he left WWE in 2024. He has since made sporadic appearances over the years. He was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2021.

Speaking with Rewind Recap Relive, The Great Khali discussed his WWE career. In one highlight, he was asked whether he would be interested in potentially returning to WWE.

“I don’t think so…because I’m doing so many things,” Khali said. “CWE, and I have a restaurant business. Other I have lots of commercials, lots of commercials, and so many events there in India. So I’m all the time busy. But you know, I don’t want to come back to WWE. I just want to come to WWE to say, ‘Hello, hi,’ me checking a little bit. Yeah, Royal Rumble. Not permanently. Permanently, no. No. No because I’m so happy, I have so many things I’m doing.”
