Joe Hendry was pitched for a feud on WWE RAW, but it never saw the light of day.
Joe Hendry has appeared on WWE programming as part of the company’s fledging partnership with TNA. However, a new report sheds light on the now dropped creative plans for the TNA World Champion that would’ve probably pitted him in a feud with a main roster talent.
According to Fightful Select, WWE creative had pitched for Hendry to appear on RAW and feud with The Miz. However, the pitch was rejected by now former TNA executive Ariel Shnerer. It was noted that Shnerer didn’t agree since it “likely would have seen Hendry taking a loss.”
“Fightful Select learned that earlier this year, there was an idea that would have seen Hendry appear on WWE Raw. However, we’re told that Ariel Shnerer didn’t agree with the creative, which likely would have seen Hendry taking a loss. One of the ideas was that it would be a catalyst for a feud with The Miz. None of that ended up happening, but WWE has sent Ethan Page over for what we’re told is a very similar piece of creative to what would have been planned.”
Ethan Page returned to iMPACT earlier this month to set up a triple threat world title match at Rebellion 2025. As for Joe Hendry, the champion has vowed to defend his title against both Page and Frankie Kazarian despite heading into the three-way with a torn rotator cuff.
WrestleZone will have full coverage of TNA Rebellion 2025 as it airs on April 27.
