James Gunn, director of the hit DC series Peacemaker, responded to John Cena’s historic 17th WWE title win at WrestleMania 41.
This past weekend at WWE WrestleMania 41 in Las Vegas, John Cena made history by defeating Cody Rhodes. With this victory, Cena broke Ric Flair’s long-standing record and became a 17-time WWE World Champion surpassing a mark Flair held for decades.
Cena secured the victory with help from rapper Travis Scott. After Rhodes hit Scott with a Cross Rhodes, Cena took advantage, delivering a low blow and striking Rhodes with the title to claim the win.
Following Cena’s milestone at WWE WrestleMania 41, James Gunn, the Hollywood director and co-chairman of DC Studios, shared his thoughts on the achievement. Gunn posted a photo of Cena holding the title on X, formerly Twitter, with the caption, “That’s right.”
John Cena’s Peacemaker season 2 premiere date revealed
In 2021, John Cena brought the character Peacemaker to life in The Suicide Squad. His performance led to the hit spinoff series on Max, which launched in early 2022. Fans praised the show and have been waiting for Season 2 ever since.
In February, Deadline reported that DC Studios heads James Gunn and Peter Safran confirmed the new season would release in August. James Gunn recently shared an exciting update on his social media.
Gunn revealed that he completed the DI and audio mix for the Peacemaker Season 2 premiere. He called Peacemaker one of his favorite projects. He confirmed that the new season will premiere on August 21, 2025, exclusively on Max.
The 16-time WWE World Champion, John Cena also shared the news. He expressed his excitement for fans to reunite with the Peacemaker crew. Cena said the show Peacemaker is every special for him and that he truly enjoyed making the new season.
He wrote, “So excited to for everyone to dance with us again…the @DCpeacemaker family has such a special place in my heart and really loved making this season ?♂️. #Peacemaker is coming to @StreamOnMax this year! @DCOfficial.”
