Chelsea Green loves her job, even if it means being the butt of the joke all the time.
Green is one of WWE’s breakout stars in the past couple of years. The inaugural WWE Women’s United States Champion is consistently featured on WWE TV, and most of the time, Green is getting her comeuppance after feuding with WWE’s babyface roster.
Despite being positioned as a “heel,” Green is still a popular performer with fans. She spoke about her role in episode 3 of WWE: Unreal and said she’s there for comedic relief, and she has no problem losing if it means she’s still on television every week.
Chelsea Green is OK with being on the losing end if it means getting booked
“My role is to provide entertainment, and that is in the form of comedic relief and selling for the girls. Selling is the art of taking someone’s move,” Green explained. “It’s the way that you take that move and make it look brutal. For somebody to win, somebody else has to lose. And guess what? I’ll be a loser if that means being booked every day.
“You want me to pour salsa and cake on my head? Say less,” Green added. “We’re getting paid a lot of money to look like assholes. I’m okay with that.”
During the episode, Chelsea Green referred to her WWE character as a ‘Karen.’ She also said that, as much as she talks about how winning doesn’t matter, it does, and she has goals of being a champion in WWE. She realized that goal in 2024, as she won the WWE Women’s United States Championship and held it for 131 days. Green ultimately beat Mia Yim, the woman who embarrassed her in a dumpster months earlier, for the title. WWE also has fun with Green’s character, as they recently shared a list of her “lowlights” on TV.
WWE: Unreal featured plenty of great backstage details, like original pitches for WrestleMania 41 and how its ‘Gorilla position’ actually works.
