JBL has one heck of a WrestleMania moment that didn’t take place on air.
This week’s episode of Something To Wrestle featured JBL and co-host Conrad Thompson discussing reports that WWE has ramped up security in light of some recent incidents involving fans crowding talent. JBL then shared a humorous story about his run-in with some fans in the bathroom at WrestleMania.
“Me and Michael Cole used to do the whole WrestleMania for five hours. We’d sit out there, we’d have to quit drinking water a couple hours before, because we were out there the entire time, it was brutal. Everybody’s [mocking me] like, ‘Oh you poor baby, you couldn’t pee for five hours. Poor baby, you were so mistreated while [you’re] calling WrestleMania.’ I get it.
“But I’m sitting there and I see a bathroom that’s right off the stadium level. I ask the security guard, ‘Is that [bathroom] private or not.’ He goes, ‘No, no, it’s private.’ I said, ‘There will be no fans there, right?’ [He says] ‘No, no fans.’”
JBL continued to hydrate, knowing he had a bathroom close by
JBL says he was sitting at commentary leading up to the show. He chose to continue drinking water and an energy drink, knowing he had a bathroom waiting for him. Michael Cole told him he’d never make it through the show. However, JBL said he wasn’t worried, although he didn’t tell Cole why he wasn’t worried yet.
“We have a long video package, it’s like 4-5 minutes. I’ve been waiting for this. I get up and I run to the bathroom. Michael Cole goes, ‘You bastard!’ So I run to the bathroom, and it’s supposed to be private. Because the video is playing, everybody runs to the bathroom. It’s supposed to be private, but it’s full!”
JBL estimated that the bathroom could hold 20 people, but there were about 50 in line to go. The fans all started screaming at JBL, who had to apologize before asking to cut in line.
“I said, ‘I didn’t know this would be a public restroom. I’ve got to be back at the booth in less than 2 minutes. Can I cut in front of everybody?’ I said, ‘I’m sorry to ask this…’ and the guys [start chanting] ‘Let him pee!’ Now they’re all chanting, ‘Let him pee! Let him pee! Let him pee!’”
JBL was in a pretty uncomfortable situation
JBL said the fans continued to chant for him while he was standing at the urinal, resulting in an even more awkward moment.
“Guys are trying to take selfies with me! Guys are coming up to me, I’m holding my johnson [looking at them] like, ‘Guys, please! F*ckin’ stop!’ It was an absolute nightmare,” he said with a laugh.
Thompson joked that he envisioned ‘Let Him Pee’ bumper stickers in the future. JBL continued, saying it was the most uncomfortable he’d ever felt, adding that fans were trying to put their arms around his neck while he was still peeing.
JBL did not say which WrestleMania this took place at. He has been at the desk for multiple events, including at WrestleMania 29 and for the Kevin Owens vs. Sami Zayn match at WrestleMania 37.
