Kristara Reflects On TNA Debut Against Rosemary

Recognized as Quebec’s Women’s Wrestler of the Year in 2024, Kristara has enjoyed much success across Canada’s independent wrestling circuit. Last year, she also received an opportunity to perform in one of wrestling’s most global companies, TNA.

Her match, filmed for the August 1, 2024 episode of TNA Impact, saw Kristara take on Rosemary, with the former TNA Knockouts Champion emerging victorious. Still, Kristara walked away with her held high, filled with a mix of gratitude and nostalgia.

“I loved TNA growing up,” Kristara told WrestleZone’s Ella Jay. “Talking about loving women’s wrestling, I love the TNA Knockouts. They were the best. I was obsessed with them. When I started wrestling, I was like, I’m going to do a pumpkick because Angelina Love did a pumpkick. I loved her, because she was charismatic and also because she was Canadian. I just had that thing as a kid. So that was really awesome to be in the TNA locker room because there was a lot of faces that I grew up watching. I was like ‘This is crazy.’ I’m walking by, Matt Hardy’s there. I’m like ‘What the hell?’ Everybody was really nice … They gave me feedback. It was an experience I didn’t expect. I felt really welcomed and that was really nice.”

Kristara Shares Her Biggest Takeaways

When asked about her biggest takeaway from her TNA debut, “The Sweetest Pea” pointed to the importance of maximizing her time in the ring. In this case, her match spanned just over two minutes, with Rosemary planting her with an As Above So Below for the victory.

“As an indie wrestler, you’re so used to having these long matches, these long stories. But it’s like you go out there, you don’t really have that much time. You’re there to highlight the wrestler that’s signed. So, you’re like, ‘Okay, if I have two moves, how can I show my biggest strengths? How can I shine the most in the smallest ways that I’m given?’ I don’t want to just take it for granted,” Kristara said.

“Also, the camera work, it’s very different. like, ‘Oh, is there a certain way you want them to catch it?” There’s certain things that I have to think about too. As I’m planning with the wrestler, they’re not going to tell me like, ‘Oh, how does she want me to sell this?’ There’s just so many things to think about. So, my biggest takeaway just narrowing it down.”
