The System’s Bear Bronson and Brian Myers are already TNA World Tag Team Champions, but they have a chance to make an even bigger impression at Slammiversary.
WrestleZone Managing Editor Bill Pritchard spoke with Bear Bronson and Brian Myers about defending their title in a ladder match at Slammiversary. The duo already elevated themselves by beating the Hardys, but a ladder match with the legendary team holds an entirely different meaning. Myers noted that they already have a win over the Hardys, so the logical next step is to beat them in a ladder match on a bigger stage.
“It was a straight-up tag match on pay-per-view with no shenanigans, and we beat the greatest tag team of all time for the tag team championships,” Myers said. “So I think the only way to raise those stakes would be to beat them in their signature match on pay-per-view for the tag team championships, right? That’s a hell of an opportunity for sure.”
The System wants to create epic moments at TNA Slammiversary
Myers has been in the pro wrestling business for more than 20 years now. He has been part of some incredible moments, including his WWE Tag Team Championship win at WrestleMania 35. At this point, he says his biggest goal is to create unforgettable moments that last long after the show is over.
“I want moments that live forever,” Myers said. “I want to be what you remember when you walk away watching said event. So when you’re done, when you turn Slammiversary off, I want you to remember what Brian Myers and Bear Bronson did in that ladder match. That’s my ultimate goal.”
“Same here as well. It’s not just about reaching up and grabbing the belts as fast as you can. We’re in a ladder match with The Hardys,” Bronson added. “This is their signature match. These guys made the ladder match truly famous. And if there’s anything, 2025 going into 2026 for me, hardcore wrestling with ladders and weapons, that’s my bread and butter. That’s what got me to the dance. So I just know it in my bones, we’re coming out of this match making magic. When people are leaving that arena, I know they’re going to be talking about our match.”
“It’s the opportunity of a lifetime,” Myers added.
What’s next for The System?
The System isn’t looking past The Hardys or Slammiversary, but they certainly have bigger goals in mind. Myers and Bronson have tag team gold, while Cedric Alexander is the current X Division Champion. They also see more gold in their future, noting that Alisha and Eddie Edwards winning the men’s and women’s world titles would make their “big picture” goal” a little more clear.
“Speaking freely, I am looking forward to within these next few months,” Bronson said. “We got Lockdown in Chicago, and definitely throughout the rest of this year. I’m looking forward to pushing those boundaries as much as I can.”
“I think Bear kind of alluded to it. Eddie Edwards becoming the TNA Heavyweight Champion of the world, Alisha Edwards becoming the Knockouts Champion for the first time,” Myers added. “She’s one of the best ones in the division, whether she knows it or not, but we’re going to keep instilling that confidence in her that she’s one of the best performers in the company. And I think that’s only inevitable, too. So obviously the big picture is all five of us strapped up, holding gold above our heads. That’s the goal.”
