Jack Perry Wanted To Incorporate ‘Saw’ Into His AEW Return Promos

Jack Perry reveals how his love for pop culture almost brought elements of a horror classic into his AEW return promos.

After being away from his home promotion for nearly nine months, Jack Perry made his return to AEW at All Out, confronting his former cohorts, the Young Bucks. Perry also reunited with his former tag team partner Luchasaurus, reforming Jurassic Express in the process.

Ahead of Jurassic Express’ return to AEW Dynamite for the show’s six-year anniversary, Perry spoke to Vice’s Haley Miller about his comeback, his reunion with Luchasaurus, and how his love for film translates into wrestling.

Jack Perry reveals how he almost brought ‘Saw’ to an AEW return vignette

During the interview, Perry revealed that his AEW return promos were inspired by Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein. He added that he also wanted to incorporate elements from the popular Saw franchise into the vignettes, but it ultimately didn’t happen.

“We were gonna do a couple of me first sort of like digging up this grave and dragging this coffin. And you didn’t know whose it was, and it was gonna be his reveal at the end,” Perry explained. “And then he ended up having to go back for some other stuff. We were thinking Saw. Where they end up going back at the end of the movie and showing you how the beginning got set up. So, I don’t know, I think it all turned out super cool. Not the way we necessarily had planned it, but it felt perfect the way it all came together.”

Elsewhere, Jack Perry explained why he felt miserable doing the “Four Pillars” storyline on AEW television in 2023.
