AEW Collision Results:

This week’s episode of Collision kicks off with promos from FTR, JetSpeed, LFI, Eddie Kingston, Anna Jay, Paragon, and Orange Cassidy hyping up their matches this evening. It ends with PAC confronting Cassidy and challenging him to a match next week in Jacksonville on Dynamite. Cassidy agrees as long as there will be no outside interference from the Death Riders or the Don Callis Family. PAC says it will be one-on-one.

The Death Riders (w/ Marina Shafir and Wheeler Yuta) vs. Jay Lethal, Adam Priest, and Tommy Billington

  • The finish of the match saw Daniel Garcia lock Jay Lethal in the Dragon Tamer as Jox Moxley hits Lethal with a stomp. The referee calls the match.

Winners: The Death Riders

After the match, Daddy Magic gets in Garcia’s face. Garcia tells Daddy Magic he can’t take the hint. Garcia says he doesn’t hate him, but when he was hanging with him, he was a loser because he’s a loser. Now he’s with winners and wants Daddy Magic to accept that.

Grade: B-

Besides getting the Death Riders on the show, I’m really not sure what this match was supposed to accomplish. No one expected Moxley and company to lose. The aftermath between Garcia and Daddy Magic could have been handled as an individual segment. But that’s just my opinion.

We get a video package hyping up the I Quit match between Jon Moxley and Darby Allin later this month at WrestleDream.

Nick Wayne will be sidelined for a while longer

Renee Paquette is backstage with Nick Wayne, Kip Sabian, and Mother Wayne. Nick Wayne says he’s feeling great and is in the process of being cleared right now. The doctor tells Wayne that he’s still swollen and will likely be out another six to eight weeks. Wayne basically flips out on the doctor and tells him that’s not happening. Wayne says he’ll get another opinion as they all storm off. Paquette apologizes to the doctor. Overall, this was a funny segment.

Anna Jay vs. Jamie Hayter

  • The finish of the match saw Jamie Hayter hit Anna Jay with Hayterade to score the pinfall victory.

Winner: Jamie Hayter

Grade: B+

This was a very good match. I really don’t think Anna Jay gets enough credit for how much she’s improved over the years in AEW. I hope she and Tay Melo get a decent chance at becoming the first Women’s Tag Team Champions. I’m not sure that’s in the cards, but I guess we’ll see.

The Acclaimed are back together… kind of?

Max Caster is backstage with Lexy Nair. Caster is bragging about his losing streak being over, and he’s confronted by Big Bill and Bryan Keith, who run him down and say he would still be losing if it wasn’t for Anthony Bowens.

Bowens comes in and agrees and has plaques of his own. The back and forth accidentally leads to Bowens and Caster once again teaming up, this time to face Big Bill and Bryan Keith. Both men insist they aren’t The Acclaimed.

Ring of Honor World Tag Team Champions Sammy Guevara and RUSH (w/ Dralistico) vs. Shane Stetson and Cha Cha Charlie

  • The finish of the match saw Sammy Guevara hit Cha Cha Charlie with a Swanton Bomb to score the pinfall victory.

Winners: Sammy Guevara and RUSH

Grade: N/A

Just a quick and simple squash match for Guevara and RUSH. If you blinked, you probably would have missed the whole thing.

Eddie Kingston’s music hits right after the match, and we are going right into the next contest.

Eddie Kingston (w/ HOOK) vs. Dralistico (w/ Sammy Guevara)

  • The finish of the match saw Eddie Kingston hit Dralistico with a spinning backfist (Uraken) to score the pinfall victory.

Winner: Eddie Kingston

Grade: B+

Very fun match. It’s so good to see Eddie Kingston back on AEW programming. They immediately announced he’ll be back in action next week on Collision against The Beast Mortos. That should be an amazing match. Can’t wait to see that next weekend.

MxM Collection and Johnny TV (w/ Taya Valkyrie) vs. Konosuke Takeshita, Kyle Fletcher, and Josh Alexander (w/ El CLON)

  • The finish of the match saw Kyle Fletcher hit Mansoor with the sheer drop brainbuster to score the pinfall victory for his team.

Winners: Kyle Fletcher, Konosuke Takeshita, and Josh Alexander

Grade: N/A

Much like the LFI match earlier, this was just a quick squash match to showcase the Don Callis Family. It was fine for what it was, but certainly nothing that needs graded.

Can they top themselves?

The Outrunners and Dalton Castle are backstage with Lexy Nair. Floyd and Magnum put over the new trio as AEW Trios Title contenders, but Dalton Castle doesn’t seem so sure. Dalton Castle says he believes they messed up by giving them the best performance ever last week, and he has no clue how they will top it. Castle worries the pressure will come crashing down on him. The Outrunners pick up, and Castle changes his mind, stating he thinks he’s in good hands.

The Triangle of Madness has three words for Jamie Hayter… Can you guess?

Backstage, Lexy Nair attempts to get a word with Jamie Hayter and Queen Aminata, but before she can, the Triangle of Madness attacks them both and leaves them lying.

Kevin Knight (w/ Speedball Mike Bailey and Willow Nightingale) vs. Dax Harwood (w/ Cash Wheeler and Big Stoke)

  • The finish of the match saw Kevin Knight hit Dax Harwood with the UFO Splash to score the pinfall victory.

Winner: Kevin Knight

After the matchup, Big Stoke gets in Willow Nightingale’s face. Willow tries to hit Stoke with the Babe with the Powerbomb, but is attacked by Megan Bayne. Penelope Ford and Bayne pose with FTR and Big Stoke to end the segment.

Grade: A-

Easily the best thing on tonight’s show so far from an in-ring standpoint. When Collision needs a great match, you call FTR. This match delivered. I want to believe this is leading to a match between FTR and JetSpeed, perhaps as soon as WrestleDream? We should find out sooner rather than later.

A video package airs, teasing a future match between Sky Flight and Shane Taylor Promotions for the Ring of Honor Six-Man Tag Team Titles.

A face-to-face between Toni Storm and Kris Statlander

The AEW Women’s World Champion Kris Statlander makes her way to the ring. Statlander says Toni Storm isn’t finished with her, and she’s not finished with her either. Toni Storm makes her way to the ring and wants to know what she wants from her. Statlander says they just need to talk. Storm and Statlander both lay on the mat to speak to each other.

Statlander says none of this is personal, and she’s been waiting on this match for a very long time. Statlander says she respects everything Storm has done with the title; she gave her a shot because she was a fighting champion, and she is doing the same. Kris says that as hard as Toni fought for her title, she will fight even harder. Statlander says, as much as this is not personal, she will happily knock her back into black and white.

Toni Storm says it broke her heart when she lost that title, but no one deserves it more than her. Storm says the first time she saw Statlander, her response was, ‘What a woman!’ But now she needs to know how much of a woman she is. Storm says this match is for the title, so it’s personal, and while there’s no one she’d rather lose to, there’s no one she’d rather beat.

They shake hands, but the they don’t break it. Storm and Statlander decide they can fight right now. The two women start to brawl, but this brings out the Triangle of Madness, who beat them both down. Thekla says she isn’t finished with either of them, stating that neither of them beat her. Thekla says she won’t stop until everything in AEW is toxic.

Harley Cameron’s music hits, and the Triangle of Madness looks at the stage. Cameron comes in from the crowd and attacks Thekla. Statlander and Storm join in, and they chase off the Triangle of Madness.

Hangman Page and Samoa Joe get all the hype

We get a great hype package for the AEW World Championship match between Hangman Page and Samoa Joe later this month at WrestleDream.

Paragon and Orange Cassidy vs. Hechicero, Lance Archer, and Rocky Romero

  • The finish of the match saw Kyle O’Reilly lock Rocky Romero in an armbar to score the submission victory for his team.

Winners: Orange Cassidy and Paragon

Grade: B

After the match, The Don Callis Family comes out onto the stage and mockingly claps for Paragon and Orange Cassidy as AEW Collision goes off the air.

AEW Collision Review:

Tonight’s episode of Collision was perfectly fine. But for the most part, this felt like the definition of a throwaway show. If you were just tuning in for a couple of hours of enjoyable wrestling, you got what you were looking for.

But if you were hoping to see some additional build and announcements for WrestleDream, which is only two weeks away, you didn’t get any of that. Tonight’s show seemed very focused on hyping their two specials next week with “Title Tuesday” and “Homecoming.”

And while there is nothing wrong with that at all, I think some additional focus could have been put on the upcoming pay-per-view. One new match for WrestleDream set up tonight would have gone a long way in making tonight’s show feel important. Ultimately, tonight was an enjoyable but missable episode of Collision.

Grade: B
