Current AEW and ROH star Athena is all set to host her second all-women’s wrestling event. Following the success of the first show at Bedford, which featured appearances from stars like Mercedes Mone, the second edition is set to take place on October 25, 2025, in Irving, Texas.
Current and longest-reigning ROH Women’s World Champion, Athena, sat down with Joey Hayden of Dallas Morning News to talk about Who Runs The World?, an upcoming all-women’s wrestling event, hosted by her independent wrestling promotion Metroplex Wrestling.
“It’s probably the most stressful thing I do, outside of dealing with my own stuff at work and trying to be creative for me. Trying to be creative for the girls is so much more difficult than I think anyone would ever realize.”
Athena also said that they’re being a little ambitious by choosing a venue that can seat up to 1000 people.
“We’re being a little ambitious this time. We’re going to Southern Junction, which is an awesome venue, an awesome bar, as well, sits up to 1,000 people. I might be overreaching, but I think me and my girls can do it.”
Athena Is Confident That The Girls Will Put On A Great Show, And Says It’s About Making A Statement
Athena was confident when she said that the female wrestlers are going to put on a great show and proclaimed that the event is all about establishing that they’re not going anywhere.
“These girls, here’s the thing, I know my girls are going to put on a great, phenomenal show,” Athena said.
“You’ve seen them around the world, and a lot of them have so much more to prove. WRTW 2 is about establishing that we’re not going anywhere. We’re going to continue to rise, continue to grow, and continue to show you new women that you’ve never seen before.”
The event will feature stars like Abadon, Nixon Newell, Marina Shafir, Deonna Purrazzo, and current AEW Women’s World Champion Kris Statlander.
