Update: Mike Rotunda’s family has issued a statement and shared that Rotunda is in a rehabilitation facility, not on hospice care. They said that Windham misspoke, albeit unintentionally, when commenting on Rotunda’s health.
Barry Windham says his brother-in-law and former partner, Mike Rotunda, is currently in hospice care.
Windham spoke with Bill Apter at the Glory Days Grapple Con convention in Florida on October 25. Apter noted his longstanding relationship with Windham and said that they unfortunately never got to talk much about the late Bray Wyatt. Apter asked Windham, who Wyatt (real name Windham Rotunda) was named after, to talk about his nephew’s career.
Instead, Windham surprised Apter by sharing that Mike Rotunda, Wyatt’s father and the WWE Superstar formerly known as IRS, was in poor health and entered hospice care.
“It’s kinda tough right now. Mike is in hospice right now,” Windham said. “So, anyway, I love that family. It’s so tragic.”
“He was just a good boy. He was such a good person, never got in trouble at all his whole life. He’s a good boy.”
Apter then brought a smile to Windham’s face when he shared that he made Rotunda watch Robert DeNiro films and they shared an appreciation for the actor.
When asked if he had a message for his fans, Windham simply asked for prayers for Rotunda.
Mike Rotunda recently made an appearance with Windham at WWE’s Saturday Night’s Main Event on May 24, 2025, in Tampa, Florida. The pair were collectively known as The U.S. Express tag team in the 1980s, and they were inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2024.
