Grade: B

This match could have main evented any WWE PLE. Rhodes and McIntyre used the stipulation here to create SEVERAL “nearfall” moments that could have legitimately been the end of the match. The best part here is that McIntyre still has a grip. This is going to lead to some sort of bonkers stipulation for their next match.

Winner and NEW WWE Women’s Champion, Jade Cargill!

Grade: B-

Well… that went differently than expected. Jade Cargill beat the living you know what out of Tiffany Stratton tonight. Even still, Cargill’s dominate win is tainted by Stratton being injured coming into this. Is odd that they felt Stratton needed an out here. Cargill is a beast. Why can’t Cargill just beat Statton straight up? Odd stuff.

Winner and STILL Intercontinental Champion, Dominik Mysterio!

Grade: B

This was a fun triple threat match. Rusev and Penta were utterly dominant in this one, and the swarmy heel Dominik found yet another creative way to keep his championship. When Dominik finally loses the championship, they’d better pick the right person to do it. If they play this wrong, that person is going to get booed out of the building.

Winner and NEW World Heavyweight Champion, CM Punk!

Grade: B-

This one started off slow but built to a heck of a crescendo. This match was NJPW coded; when was the last time you saw that many finisher kickouts? If anything, beyond the slow start, that’s the only major criticism of this match. The sameness of doing the same moves over and over again just sucks the life out of any match.

WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event Review:

Tonight’s show was a fun ride. Despite the repetitiveness of the main event, each match, as a whole, delivered. The match of the night was the triple threat match for the IC Championship, with all three competitors emerging from it better than they entered. Rusev should skip the IC title and head straight into a feud with Punk for the World Championship. Penta and Dominik should just flat-out fight forever. Tons of storylines will bridge from tonight’s show, with the most intriguing being what’s next for the new World Heavyweight Champion and who will be first in line for a shot. What did you all think of the show? Let us know in the comments below!
