Ricochet cites Jackie Chan as his biggest influence when it comes to showcasing his agility in AEW.
Ricochet signed with All Elite Wrestling in July 2024. His in-ring debut for the promotion came at All In: London the following month. He would later turn heel during his program against Swerve Strickland. And later on formed his own stable with Gates of Agony (Bishop Kaun and Toa Liona) on AEW television.
Ricochet’s agility is arguably his biggest asset in the ring. He never shies away from using his speed and athleticism to shift the momentum in his favor. During a recent interview ahead of Chicago Wolves Wrestling Night, The Demand’s main man cited Jackie Chan as his biggest influence when it comes to displaying his athleticism in the ring.
“I always try to because again I’m not big like Bobby Lashley or Will Hobbs or Samoa Joe or some of the big guys that we got,” he said. “I’m not the biggest guy in the ring. But I definitely will be one of, if not the most agile or the quickest, you know what I’m saying? I always use Jackie Chan as my influence. I always think, ‘okay, how would Jackie Chan do this?; Literally, that’s how I think about it. Again, because he was just someone that I was drawn to when I was younger, the flashiness and the speed and the execution that he does.
“That’s kind of how you have to use what you have to your advantage. If you’re strong, you use your strength. If you’re fast, you use your speed. Luckily, I was agile, so I was able to use my agility and stuff in the ring to help me, which I think is honestly my favorite. The high flyers and stuff has always been my favorite. I like the larger than life, too, but I’ve always liked, go to the circus, I like the trapeze artists, I like the acrobats. Everyone, it’s just a different flavor of ice cream for everybody.” [H/T: Fightful]
