WWE Filmed John Cena’s Last Match On A Nintendo DS

Now here’s a unique way to look at John Cena’s final match.

Cena competed in WWE for the final time at Saturday Night’s Main Event in Washington, D.C. The match ultimately didn’t go his way, as Gunther controversially made Cena tap out. The match has been analyzed by everyone and in many different ways since the bell rang, but WWE came up with an interesting way of looking at things.

WWE shared a video of John Cena‘s final match being filmed on a Nintendo DS, posting footage on social media. It’s unclear how much of the match was filmed or if it will be released in its entirety. But, as the caption says, this will definitely be a crazy late-night find in the future.

In case you’re wondering how much technology has evolved, the Nintendo DS was initially released in 2004. However, it didn’t have a camera. The DSi version of the handheld console was released worldwide in 2009, and it came with two 0.3 megapixel digital cameras. For comparison, most current smartphones come with a standard average of a 54 megapixel camera.

You might not know it, but John Cena is actually a fan of Nintendo consoles and took part in a 2017 photoshoot for the Nintendo Switch. According to video game journalist and former WWE podcast producer Dan Ryckert, Cena “repeatedly told the Nintendo reps how much he wanted a new 2D Metroid.” According to Ryckert, Nintendo sent Cena a copy of Metroid Dread when it was released. Cena’s team later sent back word that he loved the game.
