WWE stars are no strangers to the acting world, and in 2005, Goldberg appeared in a Christmas movie that remains divisive.
In 2005, Goldberg starred in the black comedy slasher movie Santa’s Slay. In a horror-themed twist on Christmas, Goldberg stars as an evil Santa Claus. The movie follows Santa, who was the result of a virgin birth by Satan. He was then forced to spread Christmas cheer due to losing a bet over a curling match with an angel. That loss resulted in Santa being sentenced to delivering presents on Christmas for 1,000 years.
Santa’s Slay has some really ridiculous kills
After the bet runs out, Santa reverts back to his demonic self, and he begins to go after others. The movie was a fairly traditional slasher movie, with a number of holiday-themed kills in it. Some of the scenes involve Fran Drescher (The Nanny) getting her head lit on fire before drowning in a bowl of eggnog and a dog getting kicked into a ceiling fan. “Santa” also goes on to murder a bunch of strippers and kills a Jewish deli owner with his own menorah.
The movie is best known for Goldberg going over the top in his role as an evil Santa and he even works in his signature ‘Who’s Next?’ catchphrase. Alongside Goldberg, Santa’s Slay also starred Douglas Smith, Emilie de Ravin, Robert Culp, Saul Rubinek, Dave Thomas, Rebecca Gayheart, Chris Kattan, and Fran Drescher.
Despite the fun premise, though, the movie was met with mostly negative reviews. The movie has a 40% on Rotten Tomatoes, with a 44% rating amongst fans. Santa’s Slay is currently available to stream on Tubi, Pluto TV and Plex for free.
Goldberg’s acting career didn’t end with Santa, though. In 2005, he also starred in the Adam Sandler movie The Longest Yard, and then also starred in 2007’s Half Past Dead 2.
