The Super Bowl LX Halftime Show featured a performance from Bad Bunny, the Grammy-winning Puerto Rican rapper (and occasional professional wrestler). Bad Bunny is responsible for making Spanish-language rap music more popular around the world, and his Super Bowl was expected to have a similar influence.

Many people in the United States, specifically those who identified as Republicans and supporters of Donald Trump, spoke out against Bad Bunny being this year’s Super Bowl performer, with some calling his inclusion “un-American.” One of those critics was YouTube star-turned-boxer Jake Paul, who said people should follow his lead and turn off the halftime show as a sign of unity for America.

“Purposefully turning off the halftime show,” Jake Paul wrote on Twitter/X. “Let’s rally together and show big corporations they can’t just do whatever they want without consequences (which equals viewership for them). You are their benefit. Realize you have power. Turn off this halftime. A fake American citizen performing who publicly hates America. I cannot support that.”

WWE Superstar Damian Priest, also a native of Puerto Rico, praised Logan Paul for using his platform to spread such a positive message.

“Very kind of you to say. You have a platform that can actually mean something to many. Thank you,” Damian Priest added.
