Logan Paul is used to making headlines inside a WWE ring, but this time the spotlight shone outside the squared circle. Instead, it was a piece of cardboard — and a very expensive one at that.
After 42 days of online bidding, Logan Paul’s PSA Grade 10 Pikachu Illustrator Pokémon card sold for $16,492,000 at Goldin Auctions, setting a Guinness World Record for the most expensive trading card ever sold at auction.
The final total came after hours of extended bidding, with 97 total bids driving the price from $6.882 million to its record-breaking figure.
Logan Paul’s Rare Pikachu Illustrator Card Breaks All-Time Record
When the hammer finally fell, Paul called the result “absolutely insane” during a livestream as confetti rained down. Moments later, a Guinness World Records official confirmed the historic sale.
The Pikachu Illustrator card — often referred to as the “holy grail” of Pokémon cards — was originally issued in a 1998 illustration contest. Only a small number were awarded, and Paul’s copy is the only one graded PSA 10, making it the highest-graded example in existence. In a market where condition is king, this card wore the crown.
Paul purchased the card in July 2021 by trading a PSA Grade 9 Illustrator and $4 million in cash. Five years ago, he set a record by acquiring it for $5.275 million. This latest sale represents a massive return, reportedly earning him more than $8 million in profit after fees.
As part of the deal, Paul included the custom diamond necklace that houses the card. This is the same one he wore during his WrestleMania 38 entrance. He also promised to hand-deliver the item to the buyer, venture capitalist AJ Scaramucci.
Before the auction, Paul posted a farewell message: “Goodbye my friend. What a privilege it’s been.”
From WrestleMania props to record-breaking profits, Logan Paul proved that sometimes the biggest pop doesn’t come from a crowd — it comes from a final bid.
