A major personal milestone has unfolded for a WWE Hall of Famer, as Rob Van Dam and Katie Forbes recently shared life-changing news following a challenging few months.
While the wrestling world is used to seeing RVD rise to the occasion in the ring, this time the spotlight shifts to a far more emotional journey—one that tested both patience and resilience before delivering a heartfelt outcome.
Rob Van Dam and Katie Forbes Share Emotional NICU Journey After Birth
Rob Van Dam and Katie Forbes have welcomed twin daughters, Karma Star Szatkowski and Saba Zen Szatkowski. They were born on Dec. 26 via C-section after a high-risk pregnancy.
Both babies arrived approximately two and a half months early and required immediate care in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU). Karma weighed 3 pounds 14 ounces and measured 17.3 inches, while Saba weighed 4 pounds 8.6 ounces and measured 18 inches at birth.
According to an interview with PEOPLE, the final weeks leading up to the birth were particularly difficult. Forbes developed preeclampsia, with dangerously high blood pressure. This led to a four-week hospital stay as doctors closely monitored her and the babies.
What initially seemed like a routine check quickly turned into a serious situation — proving this was less “extreme rules” and more real-life endurance.
The delivery itself marked an emotional turning point. Forbes recalled that Karma was born first, followed just three minutes later by Saba. She called it “the most special moment” of her life.
However, the journey didn’t end there. Saba faced additional medical concerns after birth and was transferred to another NICU for testing due to fears of seizures. Fortunately, tests came back clear, and she was later reunited with her sister on Dec. 31.
Karma spent five weeks in the NICU, while Saba remained for seven. Throughout that time, Van Dam and Forbes visited daily, supporting their daughters every step of the way.
Now, both children are home, healthy, and thriving. After a long road that felt more like a marathon than a main event, the family is finally together and enjoying every moment of their well-earned victory.
