Darby Allin and Gabe Kidd took their Coffin Match far beyond the ring on the March 18 episode of AEW Dynamite, with the chaos starting in a place few matches dare to go — the parking lot.
Before the bell even rang, Kidd called Allin out for a confrontation away from the arena.
What followed wasn’t just a fight — it was a collision course that quickly went off the rails and, quite literally, flipped expectations on their head.
Darby Allin Flips Car With Gabe Kidd in Trunk Before Coffin Match
The brawl began when Allin arrived by car and immediately engaged Kidd. The fight escalated fast, with Kidd briefly gaining control before Allin turned the tide using whatever he had on hand.
In a shocking moment, Allin locked Kidd in a car trunk, drove up a makeshift ramp, and flipped the vehicle with Kidd still inside — a stunt that felt less like a match and more like a no-holds-barred demolition derby.
Allin crawled out of the wreckage, retrieved Kidd from the trunk, and transported him to ringside on a road case, finally bringing the match into a more traditional setting.
Once the bell rang, the intensity didn’t slow down. Allin introduced a straitjacket into the fight, restraining Kidd and limiting his offense — a move that put Kidd in a bind, both literally and figuratively.
Despite moments of resistance, including headbutts and a no-arm powerslam, Kidd struggled to overcome the disadvantage. Allin capitalized with repeated Coffin Drops and relentless skateboard strikes, tightening his grip on the match.
The finish came at full speed. With Kidd still trapped in the straitjacket, Allin launched a suicide dive that sent him crashing into the open coffin. The lid slammed shut, handing Allin the win in emphatic fashion — talk about putting the final nail in the coffin.
After the match, Allin made it clear he’s not slowing down, setting his sights on the AEW World Championship as his next destination.
