WWE Eyeing Indie Wrestler Endorsed By Matt Cardona — Report

WWE could soon add a new name to its roster, as reports say rising indie wrestler Conan Lycan has caught their interest. Moreover, Matt Cardona, who himself made his name in the indie scene and got back to WWE, has offered his support for Lycan.

Lycan has the kind of strong and unique look WWE usually likes. But it is not just his size that stands out. His popularity has grown a lot recently, especially after appearing on the TV show Beast Games.

Using his real name, Nick Mariano, he made it to the final episode of the show. He finished 7th out of 210 contestants. This helped to put the spotlight on him.

Conan Lycan Reportedly Drawing WWE Interest

According to Fightful Select, WWE is interested in him. Moreover, the company has even discussed setting up a meeting with NXT officials.

There is no official contract drawn up yet. However, the talks show that Lycan is definitely on WWE’s radar. In recent years, WWE has been signing both athletes and indie wrestlers, and Lycan fits well into the second category.

Moreover, he also got support from Matt Cardona, who retweeted Fightful’s tweet saying, “He’s really good.” Even though it was short, it means a lot coming from someone like Cardona. Lycan also defended his CSW title against Cardona last year.

Lycan isn’t new to wrestling. He has been working on the independent scene for about eight years. He has wrestled for promotions like Game Changer Wrestling, All American Wrestling, and Black Label Pro. He has also appeared on TV, including matches in AEW and TNA.

Lycan also trained at the Black and Brave Wrestling Academy, which Seth Rollins and Marek Brave lead. That adds to his credibility.

Right now, WWE and AEW are signing talent in different ways. AEW often signs well-known indie stars, while WWE focuses more on developing new talent. Lycan fits somewhere in between.
