The March 30 episode of WWE RAW from Madison Square Garden closed with a chaotic confrontation between CM Punk and Roman Reigns — one that may have backed up Punk’s long-standing claim in a very public way.
What started as a tense face-off quickly turned into something far more decisive.
Roman Reigns left without backup during CM Punk assault on WWE RAW
Reigns opened the final segment, soaking in chants before calling for acknowledgment, but the atmosphere shifted as CM Punk arrived, taped up and ready for a fight. The two immediately exchanged heavy strikes, with momentum swinging back and forth in a heated ringside brawl.
Reigns landed a Superman Punch and attempted to regain control, but Punk countered and dragged the fight outside. The action escalated quickly, with both men fighting through officials and even taking out a road agent during the chaos.
The World Heavyweight Champion eventually created separation, delivering a Go To Sleep before escalating things further. In a defining moment, he lifted Reigns and drove him through the announce table with a release powerbomb, leaving the Tribal Chief laid out.
Notably, no members of Reigns’ family or allies came to assist him during or after the attack.
That absence didn’t go unnoticed.
CM Punk has repeatedly claimed in recent weeks that Reigns cannot operate without his cousins, even stating that “nobody in that family can do anything on their own.” This segment appeared to support that narrative, as the Royal Rumble winner was left to endure the assault without backup.
The WWE World Heavyweight Champion didn’t rush off either. He sat cross-legged beside the wreckage, soaking in the moment before continuing the attack, almost as if to underline his point — and maybe add a little “pipebomb” punctuation to it.
With WrestleMania 42 approaching, this encounter adds another layer to their rivalry. Roman Reigns has built his legacy on dominance, but RAW’s closing moments suggest he may now have to prove he can stand — and fight — on his own.
