CM Punk and Cody Rhodes Tease Alliance Ahead of WWE WrestleMania 42

CM Punk has seemingly teased a potential alliance with Cody Rhodes on the road to WWE WrestleMania 42.

The American Nightmare found the odds stacked against him on WWE SmackDown last Friday. As Rhodes had the upper hand against Randy Orton, Pat McAfee made his surprise return and hit the Undisputed Champion with a low blow.

The momentum quickly shifted as Orton took control, while McAfee delivered a verbal barrage at Rhodes. The storyline progression also appeared to confirm that The Rock was not the rumored mentor The Viper had been referencing for weeks.

That said, it looks like Cody Rhodes may not be alone in his quest for payback against Randy Orton and Pat McAfee. World Heavyweight Champion CM Punk recently teased that he might have Rhodes’ back.

On his Instagram Stories, Punk shared a photo of Val Kilmer as Doc Holliday from Tombstone, while tagging Rhodes. One of the film’s most iconic lines is, “I’m your huckleberry.”

While the post is open to interpretation, it appears Punk could be hinting at an alliance with Rhodes. In response, Rhodes shared a photo of Kurt Russell, who played Wyatt Earp in the film.

The Straight Edge Superstar also shared another post where he placed a clown emoji over McAfee’s face. Punk also posted a photo of Paul Newman’s mugshot, another hint that he might be up to no good.

Cody Rhodes appeared on WWE RAW last week. Although the Undisputed Champion is not advertised for tonight’s show in Houston, he could make a surprise appearance to further build his WrestleMania program with Randy Orton and Pat McAfee.

WrestleZone will provide live coverage of WWE RAW later tonight.
