Iconic Wrestling Venue Cancels All Events Due To Fake Stabbing Incident

Pro wrestling at Chicago’s Berwyn Eagles Club has come to an end, thanks to a recent incident during a live event.

GCW was scheduled to host its June 20 event, Bow Down, at the venue, and recently advertised the show as recently as Wednesday night. However, that show, and all wrestling events at the venue, have been cancelled.

“We have just been informed by the venue that all events at the Berwyn Eagles Club (including our June 20th event) will have to be cancelled,” GCW announced

According to many notable names from the Chicago and indie wrestling scene, including GCW’s Brett Lauderdale, the Berwyn Eagles Club’s decision to cancel future wrestling shows is a direct result of the reported stabbing incident that took place at a recent event hosted by Ruthless Pro Wrestling.

“This was directly caused by an incident (the fake stabbing) that took place at another promotions event which has caused the town, lawyers & police to be involved,” Lauderdale wrote on Twitter/X. “It’s truly a shame to see the Berwyn Eagles and 20+ years of Chicago wrestling history come to an end like this.”

What stabbing incident took place at Ruthless Pro’s wrestling event?

Cultaholic Wrestling reported that Krule, popularly known as Mads Krule Krügger, was allegedly stabbed by an individual at Ruthless Pro Wrestling’s OMEGA event on March 28.

According to the story, a fan at the event allegedly stabbed Krule. The incident was filmed and posted on social media by deathmatch wrestler Lou Nixon. The footage allegedly shows several wrestlers confronting the attacker before he exited the building.

Now, it’s being said that the incident was faked, and the alleged stabbing was a lie told by the promotion. As a result, pro wrestling is done at the Berwyn Eagles Club, which has hosted pro wrestling events for more than 20 years for promotions including GCW, AAW, Rise and Shimmer, among others.

An anonymous source initially told Cultaholic that they believed there was no stabbing and that it was a cover to save face and not look bad online. Gregory Iron, who also competed on the show, was at a merch table near the incident and said he didn’t see a knife in play, nor did he hear talk about a stabbing until it made headlines.

Newly-released footage of the incident shows the fan confronting Krule, who throws punches shortly after the verbal incident. However, there is no sign of a knife in that video.
