Brie Bella reveals the surprising words CM Punk said to Nikki Bella at WWE WrestleMania 42.
While she was scheduled to team up with Brie Bella in the Women’s Tag Team Championship match at WrestleMania 42, Nikki Bella had to give up that spot to a returning Paige due to injury. Paige and Brie then went on to win the title at the event.
Speaking on the Nikki & Brie Show, Brie Bella revealed that CM Punk pulled Nikki Bella aside before the match at the PLE. Brie recounted Punk hailing Nikki for giving up her spot to Paige, saying it showed her kindness and grace.
“We’re always very positive people, and I will say there is somebody who pulled Nikki aside, literally right before our music hit,” Brie Bella began. “Punk, I will say, Punk pulled Nikki aside literally right before we walked out. We were in position, the forces (Nia Jax and Lash Leged) were walking down, but he said some really beautiful words to you before you walked out.
“I thought, ‘Wow.’ I don’t think you understand how many people backstage and a lot of fans, I think, see this too. Your kindness and grace for giving your spot like that to Paige in such a way of grace, you don’t see that a lot in our business. A lot of people would’ve been upset, had a bad attitude, destroyed the spot, not want to see anyone take it. Instead, you stood out there, and you actually gave it to her,” Brie Bella continued.
Brie Bella hailed Nikki Bella as a true champion
“Gave her your moment, gave her everything you worked hard to get to, and that goes beyond you just being there a year and a half. That goes like over a decade. Everything right there, like, you said, ‘Come, take it.’ It was awesome to see Punk come tell you all of that, literally, and then our music hit, and he was like (waving bye),” Brie Bella went on.
“So I think you don’t realize, but that’s like a true champion. You don’t need to hold the gold. You don’t need to be known as the tag champion. That’s actually a true champion. I think because you always look at the bigger picture, but you do care about people. You’re very empathetic, and so, I feel a lot of people are gonna learn from that. But that makes you a champion for sure,” Brie Bella said.
Nikki Bella then chimed in, saying, “That was awesome. Your words are awesome. It was so unexpected, and they really made me feel. It’s nice when you do things, and I don’t do things to be recognized for them, but then when people recognize stuff like that, it makes you feel really good. Sometimes, you need to hear those words from people that you would never expect it from, too. It meant a lot coming from him.”
