WWE’s Stephanie McMahon Opens Up About Stepping Away From Social Media Negativity

For years, Stephanie McMahon has been one of the most talked-about figures in WWE. Whether she was playing a villain on TV or working behind the scenes, she has always received strong reactions from fans, both good and bad. Now, she is opening up about how all the negativity has affected the way she uses her social media, especially her X feed.

While speaking on the What’s Your Story podcast with Paige, McMahon said she has mostly stopped reading her feed on X because of the negativity. She still checks it sometimes for news, but it doesn’t feel the same anymore.

Stephanie McMahon explains why she stopped reading her X feed

McMahon explained that earlier, social media used to show her unique opinions and ideas, which helped her learn. Now, she feels like she has to search for those perspectives instead of seeing them naturally.

“I have stopped reading my X feed. I mean I still look at it for news and stuff like that, even though I don’t like the super algorithm of everything. And I mean in general, across all socials…In one end, it’s fun but I used to miss bunch of different types of thinking. I liked to see different perspectives. Because I feel like that’s the best way for me to learn. So, I don’t like only being fed one perspective. It drives me crazy. So I have to go search it,” Stephanie McMahon said.

A lot of the criticism McMahon gets comes from her WWE character. She often played a tough, controlling boss meant to annoy fans. While that worked for storytelling, many people started mixing that character with her real personality. Moreover, the McMahon family has been surrounded by controversies several times, which also added to the incessant trolling.

But the Hall of Famer has learned to ignore the negativity. Still, she admitted it’s not always easy. Even with many positive comments, one negative message can make you question yourself.

Paige also shared her own way of handling social media- “post and ghost.” That means posting something and then logging off to avoid reading the reactions. It’s something she relies on a lot, especially because of her own difficult experiences online.

Both McMahon and Paige also talked about “rage baiting,” where people post to elicit angry reactions. McMahon shared the advice that she received from her husband, Triple H. He suggested that she shouldn’t care about those people’s reactions if she doesn’t find them worthy enough to ask for advice.
