Nikki Bella is uncertain whether she will ever get another WrestleMania moment.
The WWE Hall of Famer suffered the injury in the lead-up to WrestleMania 42, which forced creative to replace her with Paige in the fatal four-way match for the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship.
Despite being sidelined, Nikki still accompanied her sister Brie Bella and Paige to the ring. Brie and Paige went on to defeat Nia Jax and Lash Legend to capture the Women’s Tag Team Titles.
In the first episode of The Nikki Bella Vlog, Nikki opened up about the emotional toll of her injury. She also noted that it has been difficult dealing with people who do not fully understand the severity of her condition, despite undergoing major surgery.
“I mean, I’m sad. You know what I mean? I’ve been sad. I’ve had some really, really hard days. Lots of tears, frustration, and anger. For me, it’s been hard because people think you’re not actually injured,” she said while speaking with Brie Bella.
“I think that’s what’s made it even harder on me. I have to sit here and deal with the fact that I had major surgery. I sprained, tore, and broke my ankle. I’m so swollen right now.”
Nikki Bella on the challenges of her recovery process
She added that the recovery process has been both physically and mentally draining, especially after spending over a year and a half working toward what she believed was a major career moment.
“No, I have screws, wires, and a plate. But think about how good this has looked. Look how swollen it is right now. There’s a tear here, a tear here, a high sprain, and breaks.”
Nikki admitted she is unsure if she will ever get another WrestleMania opportunity again.
“I don’t know if I’m ever going to have a WrestleMania moment again,” she said.
However, she emphasized that setbacks have always been part of her journey and that she has built a reputation as a “comeback kid,” turning adversity into strong career returns.
“One thing I’ve realized in my life is that I’m the comeback kid. For some reason, things happen to me, and I turn them into one hell of a comeback story.
“So yeah, I’m going to be down for a bit, but I’m going to make this one hell of a story. I might not ever have a WrestleMania moment. That sucks, but that’s fine. I’ll have some other moment. Maybe it’s SummerSlam. Maybe it’s a random Monday Night RAW or Friday Night SmackDown.
“I will make something of this. I’ll have a great story, and then I’ll just peace out.”
