WWE reportedly had plans for another nWo reboot, but Eric Bischoff isn’t buying it.
The nWo is one of the most popular and successful wrestling stables of all time. The group ruled WCW television between 1996 and 2000 before WWE revived the stable for a brief run in 2002. There haven’t been any official nWo revivals since then, but a former WWE writer says it was pitched in 2020.
Former WWE writer Chris Dunn recently claimed that WWE pitched rebooting the nWo during the Thunderdome era in 2020, with Sheamus, Claudio Castagnoli (fka Cesaro), Shinsuke Nakamura, and Lars Sullivan in the group. He also claimed that a member of the original nWo would have introduced the new faction, but a failed COVID-19 test brought a stop to the plan.
Kevin Nash first spoke out about the story, claiming that he knew nothing about it. Now, Eric Bischoff has weighed in, sharing that he isn’t buying it, either.
Eric Bischoff thinks WWE’s nWo reboot story is very unlikely
Bischoff was asked about the story during a new episode of his 83 Weeks podcast. He was told about Dunn’s story, but explained why he was skeptical that this was the whole truth.
“It’s funny, I had a couple people that—well, one in particular, Sean Waltman, reached out to me and said, ‘Hey did you ever hear anything about this?’ I said, ‘No, I never heard anything about that.’ And neither did Kevin Nash apparently, according to Sean Waltman.
“So, the three surviving members of the nWo knew nothing about it, so obviously, we weren’t involved in it. Which makes me think maybe there’s something lost in translation along the way here? I don’t know, but it seems very unlikely for a lot of reasons. Yeah, it could just be silly internet stupid shit.”
Hulk Hogan, Scott Hall and Kevin Nash are credited as the three original members of the nWo. Hall died in 2022, while Hogan passed away in July 2025. The Giant (Paul Wight) and Ted DiBiase were the next two people to join, while Sean Waltman and Bischoff joined a short time later. Dunn didn’t reveal who he was talking about, but it’s possible that he meant one of the other names from the stable’s early run.
