WWE once reportedly wanted to reboot the New World Order with a lineup of modern Superstars.
During his recent appearance on the Public Enemies Podcast, former WWE writer Chris Dunn revealed that the promotion had plans to reboot the legendary nWo faction during the Thunderdome era in 2020. He noted that the company had a strange lineup for the new version, which included Sheamus, Cesaro, Shinsuke Nakamura, and Lars Sullivan.
He also revealed that a legend from the original group flew in to Orlando to introduce the new version, but failed the COVID-19 test.
“Each one of you guess one person from the Thunderdome era who would make sense for the nWo,” the former WWE writer said. After the hosts said Austin Theory, Roman Reigns, John Cena, and Finn Balor, he revealed, “So, the pitch was Sheamus, Cesaro, Nakamura, and Lars Sullivan.
“It was really close to happening. I forgot which legendary nWo member was supposed to fly to Orlando to introduce this new nWo. No, it wasn’t X-Pac. They essentially landed, and they didn’t pass the COVID test,” he said.
Lars Sullivan competed in his last match for WWE in October 2020. The promotion released him in January 2021 after he requested it due to his anxiety issues.
Original nWo member and WWE Hall of Famer Kevin Nash revealed that he and his family tested positive for COVID-19 in September 2020. While the timeline aligns, he didn’t disclose how he contracted the virus, and it’s unclear if he was the nWo legend who flew in to announce the reboot
