WWE’s Drew McIntyre Pulled From Upcoming Appearance Due to Outside Commitments

Drew McIntyre’s absence from WWE could be set to continue a little longer. A new report indicates the former world champion has been removed from a major fan event due to commitments away from the ring.

While fans continue waiting for signs of his return, McIntyre’s schedule appears to be taking him somewhere very different.

According to PWInsider, McIntyre has been pulled from Fanatics Fest in New York City because of filming obligations for the upcoming movie The Last Druid.

The event is scheduled for July 16 and July 17. Nevertheless, the Scottish Warrior will reportedly no longer be appearing.

Drew McIntyre’s Hollywood schedule continues to impact WWE return

The latest update adds another layer to the uncertainty surrounding McIntyre’s WWE comeback. During a recent Self Made Session, Self Made Pro stated, “The word now is that he will not be back for SummerSlam.”

Instead of preparing for an in-ring return, the Scotsman has been focused on expanding his acting career.

He is currently involved with The Last Druid, which stars Russell Crowe alongside Stacy Clausen, Pablo Derqui, and Tennyson Crowe. The film is being shot in Spain. It follows a Roman Emperor’s discovery of a hidden Druid settlement in the mountains of Caledonia.

This isn’t McIntyre’s first venture into Hollywood, either. He recently worked with Crowe on the upcoming Highlander reboot, suggesting that acting is becoming more than a quick side quest for the former WWE Champion.

McIntyre has been away from WWE television since WrestleMania 42, where he lost an unsanctioned match to Jacob Fatu.

Following the bout, tensions boiled over during a confrontation with Cody Rhodes. SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis later suspended him indefinitely as part of the storyline that wrote him off television.

For now, McIntyre’s calendar appears filled with film sets rather than wrestling rings. With Fanatics Fest no longer on his schedule and a SummerSlam return reportedly unlikely, WWE fans may need to remain patient before hearing the familiar battle drums once again.
