There’s a positive health update on Konnan following his double leg amputation.
AAA Hall of Famer Konnan has been dealing with several health issues over the years, including kidney failure, cardiac issues, and amputation of both of his legs. Reports noted that he had one leg amputated back in March, and Vince Russo later revealed he had to get his other leg amputated as well. Russo also shared that WWE covered all the medical bills, which he said cost “well over a million dollars.”
Now, speaking on Monday’s edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer provided an update on Konnan’s health. He revealed that the 62-year-old legend is still in rough shape, but “turned the corner” after the surgery.
“He’s in rough shape, but he is, like…he’s not in life threatening shape from what I’ve last heard,” Meltzer said. “He’s doing better than he was before. I’m not sure if he’s still in the hospital. But you know, he’s…I mean, it was life threatening for a long time. He was having all kinds of stuff that was bad. But he’s turned the corner, from what I am told.” [H/T WrestlingInc]
Konnan was announced as a 2026 TNA Hall of Fame inductee
During the Slammiversary pay-per-view this past Sunday, former TNA World Champion Mike Santana appeared in a video package paying tribute to Konnan. Towards the end, Santana announced the legend’s induction into the TNA Hall of Fame on Bound for Glory weekend in October.
He closed by saying, “Gracias y te quero mucho, Konnan. Hasta la Muerte y despues,” which translates to “Thank you, and I love you very much, Konnan. Until death—and beyond!”
Konnan will join ODB and Amazing Red in the 2026 TNA Hall of Fame.
