Marty Jannetty’s Family Clarifies Rumors About Recent Foot Amputation

The family of WWE legend Marty Jannetty is setting the record straight about his recent health issues.

During a recent appearance on the Monte & The Pharaoh podcast, former wrestler Eddy Mansfield revealed that Jannetty, a former WWE Intercontinental and Tag Team Champion, recently had his foot amputated. Mansfield went on to voice his frustrations over WWE not helping Jannetty with his health issues despite being a star for the company in the late 80s and early 90s.

Now, Jannetty’s wife, Addie, issued the following statement on behalf of his whole family in an effort to correct any details about his current health. According to the post, Marty Jannetty had a below-the-knee amputation, which went according to plan. The statement also confirmed that an image of Jannetty’s current state is legitimate, and the family has endorsed a petition for him to be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame.

The full statement is as follows:

For the past few years, Jannetty has been open about his ankle issues and said he has had multiple surgeries, which resulted in a staph infection. In 2024, he said that he would need his leg amputated, but did not share the exact details of his health issues.

During his career, Marty Jannetty won the WWF Intercontinental Championship and the WWF Tag Team Championship with the 1-2-3 Kid. Prior to joining WWE, he and Shawn Michaels won the AWA World Tag Team Championship twice.

Jannetty retired from the ring in 2018. In recent years, he has been in the news for controversial reasons, including admitting to a murder he committed years prior. After a police investigation, Jannetty later confirmed that the whole thing was a fake story that he tried to pass off as a pro wrestling storyline.

In addition, Marty Jannetty claimed that Hulk Hogan kept a gumball machine full of drugs at his front door. He also said that he wanted his legacy to be about his sexual escapades. More specifically, Jannetty said he wants to be remembered for “sex.”
