AEW will honor the legendary Rougeau family later this month. The special tribute will take place at AEW Redemption in Montreal, Canada. Former WWE star Jacques Rougeau recently confirmed that AEW will honor four generations of the Rougeau family during the July 26 event at the Bell Centre, Montreal, Canada.
Jacques Rougeau reveals AEW’s special tribute for his family
Speaking with Bill Apter, Rougeau said he became close friends with QT Marshall through their wrestling schools. He praised Marshall before revealing the surprise invitation.
Rougeau said, “I’m so proud, and you know, I’m so happy. QT Marshall, you know, who was working with me in my wrestling academy for a couple of years, where my winners here in Montreal would go to the Nightmare Factory in Atlanta, Georgia, to his wrestling school, him and Cody Rhodes’ wrestling school. And my winners, that was one of the prizes that they’d win. And, so I became friends with QT Marshall, and I have such a great respect for that man. A great guy, great talent, great everything.”
He continued, “AEW was coming to do a pay-per-view on July 26 in Montreal, and it’s a live pay-per-view. And then QT called me up, and he asked me if Raymond and I would like to go to the Bell Centre, where the Montreal Canadiens play. It’s a big, big place. It’s 20,000 people. And he says they would like to honor the Rougeau family, the four generations.”
Rougeau admitted he doesn’t know exactly what has been planned for AEW Redemption. “They’re going to have something. I don’t know what they’re going to have. They’re going to have something on a video or something, and then after that, they’re going to introduce me and Raymond to our Montreal fans.”
He also explained how much the moment means to him. “I’ve had a few sleepless nights lately because I’m so excited. I wish my Uncle Johnny, my dad who died, and my great-uncle would see this moment, that an American company comes to Canada to recognize us. I’m just so excited and so proud.”
