Keith Lee has been away from AEW for more than two years, and fans have continued to wonder about his in-ring status. Now, a new report suggests that his absence might mean bad news.
Lee’s last match took place at AEW Collision: Holiday Bash in December 2023, where he defeated Brian Cage. A few days later, he was pulled from the Worlds End PPV because of injury and has not wrestled since.

According to Bryan Alvarez of Wrestling Observer, many people within the wrestling industry believe Lee has quietly retired. The wrestler has not made any official announcement, but the latest update paints a much different picture than earlier reports about a possible comeback.
Speaking on Wrestling Observer Live, Alvarez said the people he has spoken to don’t expect Lee to return to AEW, or even wrestle anywhere else.
“There’s been a lot of talk about Keith Lee over the last couple of days. From talking to people, the belief within the business is that Keith Lee is done. I’m not saying this 100%, okay? I’m not saying this 100% because I don’t know. But, from talking to people, the belief within the business is that Keith Lee is done. And we’re not talking like, you know, when he is done with AEW, if that ever happens, he’ll go elsewhere. It is believed that he is likely just retired,” Alvarez said.
This latest update is very different from earlier reports. In recent months, it was reported that AEW had talked internally about bringing Lee back. But those plans never moved forward.
Even though he stayed off AEW television, Lee earlier told fans on X that his health was no longer the problem. He also mentioned that the decision about when he would return was not up to him.
