Jim Ross Remains Optimistic Ahead of Upcoming Brain Surgery

AEW‘s Jim Ross is staying positive ahead of his upcoming brain surgery.

WWE Hall of Famer and current AEW commentator Jim Ross revealed on his podcast last week that he’s undergoing brain surgery. The procedure is called a “shunt.” It’s to implant a flexible tube in his brain to drain excess cerebrospinal fluid and redirect it to another area of the body for natural reabsorption. The surgery should help the legend with his memory and balance issues. He had suffered multiple falls in the past due to balance issues.

Ross provided an update on this week’s edition of his Grilling JR podcast, confirming that his surgery has been scheduled for August.

“Yeah, that’s it. I’ll be ready to go,” Ross responded when co-host Conrad Thompson brought up that the surgery is scheduled for next month. However, he didn’t give an exact date.

When asked how it feels to be back home after a lengthy hospital stay, JR said, “Great. I’m just getting better every day. My balance is still a little screwed up, but it’s getting better. So, you know, I’m just happy that I’m alive and I’m happy that I’ve been diagnosed correctly, I think. So let’s get it on.” [H/T F4Wonline]

Ross is staying positive and hopes to undergo the surgery and have a brief hospital stay before returning home to heal and get back to business.

It was also mentioned in the same episode that Jim Ross will hopefully be able to make his scheduled appearance at WrestleCon in Minneapolis, which will take place July 31-August 2. His long-time broadcast partner, Jerry “The King” Lawler, is among the other guests.
