Kairi Sane Breaks Silence After WWE Exit as Free Agency Begins

Kairi Sane is gearing up for her post-WWE run as her free agency begins today.

WWE released former Women’s Tag Team Champion Kairi Sane as part of its post-WrestleMania 42 talent cuts in April 2026. Sane’s release came while she was involved in an engaging storyline with a heel Asuka. Fans expressed their criticism over the promotion’s decision to let her go and leave the story unfinished.

Now, the superstars who were released in the first round on April 24 have officially become free agents as of today, July 23. The list includes Kari Sane, Aleister Black, Zelina Vega, the Motor City Machine Guns, Santos Escobar, Zoey Stark, and the Wyatt Sicks.

With her 90-day non-compete period over, Kairi Sane took to X/Twitter to tease her next chapter with a message that read, “How Far I’ll Go… See you soon.”

Kairi Sane’s WWE release shocked AJ Styles

Speaking on his podcast, AJ Styles shared his reaction to Kairi Sane’s release from WWE, saying the situation was unclear to him and several others in the company. He also speculated if Sane would return to World Wonder Ring Stardom in Japan once she becomes a free agent.

“I think everybody’s a little confused. Asuka and her as a tag team, and then it just kind of- We don’t know exactly what the case is.”

He continued, “I mean, that one caught me off guard as well because it was a great tag team thing. Kairi was doing her best work as of now. I wish I had answers; I don’t have these answers for you guys. I don’t know what this means for her, I don’t know if maybe if she’s done wrestling. Is she going to go back to Stardom? Like, what’s next for Kairi Sane? But I know that she was loved, and she was amazing. Yeah, I just hate that.” [H/T: Fightful]
