Former NWA/WCW Star Tells All in Candid Reddit Q&A

Former professional wrestler Terry "The Beauty" Garvin recently did an A.M.A. on Reddit, where he openly discussed his wrestling career, the death of over forty of his friends, and more. Featured below are a few of the questions asked, and Terry's answers given.

Q: Thoughts on The Rock as a wrestler?

A: The Rock has been going to matches since hes been walking, and there is no substitute for second or third generation wrestlers, not to mention he was a great athlete before he even put boots on … My son wanted to go to a WWF show, so I took him and a friend of his, and they let me in the back like I was still a wrestler because I had so many friends working. Even though Dwayne was main eventing that night, he spent a half hour talking with my son and his friend – for that I'll always be a Rock fan.

Q: How has the sport taken a toll on your body?

A: Six knee surgeries. Two left shoulder surgeries. One neck fusion c456 with a titanium plate. I have twelve bulged discs, four herniated discs, calcium deposits and bone spurs. It's pretty much a chore to get out of bed; the falls are real.

Q: What is the attitude of wrestlers towards the referees?

A: Great question. They are actually the third man in the ring and as important as the two men performing the match. A good referee will make all the difference in the world. A bad one can kill a match. I always respected any ref; its a hard thankless job. The fans only boo them , never cheer them.
